![]() ![]() Not sure of the legal implications involved with that though From what I've seen with major manufacturers these pre-installed certs and keys are generally the same for all machines from the same batch/time period.īack when I used to image machines on a regular basis - to my knowledge a system was not legally allowed to be sold with an OS if it did not have a matching COA. I do know that it is possible to get applications that backup the OEM cert+key with the ability of restoring it to an OS. So if you want to say run a standardized win7 image that isn't full of the vendor bloatware it's not an easy process if you have to call MS and downgrade a bunch of keys especially if you're deploying a large number of machines. I've seen this issue before with machines that ship with vendor branded win7 pre-installed but the embedded DPK is for win8 only.
